ASME B31.3- Weld Sizes for attaching WOL-TOL pipe fittings

ASME B31.3- Weld Sizes for attaching WOL-TOL pipe fittings

ASME B31.3- Weld Sizes for attaching WOL-TOL pipe fittings

(OP)
Searching for information related to calculating completed weld sizes for attaching 6M Thread O'Lets, Sock O'lets and Lateral O'lets to pipe.

ASME B31.3 discusses nominal pipe branch attachment welding yet no apparent mention of welds on forged branch TOL, SOL or LOL fittings.

RE: ASME B31.3- Weld Sizes for attaching WOL-TOL pipe fittings

I believe that you just need to fill to the weld line shown on the fitting.  As this is a standard component to MSS-SP-97 you would not calculate a weld size but follow the manufacturer's recommendation.

I saw something on this in the last year but cannot remember where.

Start looking on about page 30 of this catalogue for information on fitting and welding. This information backs up the post eliebl.
