Spiral Wound Pipe Welding

Spiral Wound Pipe Welding

Spiral Wound Pipe Welding

(OP)
Hi,

I can not find anything in the standards the welding of spiral wound pipe.

I would like to know if, for low pressure applications (100kPa and below), fillet welding is sufficient, or are full penetration butt welds required?

It is for air (ducting).

Thankyou.

Sorry, further information:

The pipe is Carbon Steel and the weld I am concerned about is the seam weld of the pipe.

Thankyou, any help is appreciated.

RE: Spiral Wound Pipe Welding

There is a number of manufacturers of spiral tubing and piping, the weld seam is butt weld, in accordance with AS 4041 and AS 1579. Try google (Australia) spiral welded pipe, tubing and ducting. For details you could give them a buzz.
cheers,
