Snow loads for a canopy with an open bar grate roof

Snow loads for a canopy with an open bar grate roof

Snow loads for a canopy with an open bar grate roof

(OP)
Any one out there have a feel for what kind of snow loads to use for a 150 sf canopy that is an architectural feature on the exterior of a building.  The interesting thing is the roof is more like a sunshade than a roof as it is all aluminum bar grate with 1-3/16" spaces between the bars.

Full snow seems excessive, no snow seems too light.

Thoughts??

How thick is the grate?

Never, but never question engineer's judgement

Design it for snow or ice loads, whichever is heavier. You might also check with the manufacturer to see what design loads they are normally seeing from the A/E's
