beam loading

(OP)
I come accross one design report. From that report I come accros one thing which to me looks imposible. Im talking about beam loading. is it possible for a beam to carry 130kN/m? about 13tonnes pe meter run? (factored load). Any contribution? Is it possible or its extra exagaration?

Regards

Practicing engineering is hard than studying it!!!

RE: beam loading

If my math is correct, that's roughly 10 kips/ft.

It's high, but there's no reason you wouldn't be able to support it with a beam.

Obviously, this depends on the span, but for reasonable spans, I'm sure you could get something to work. Worst case, you design a plate girder.
