Interfacing sensor and command module
Interfacing sensor and command module
(OP)
Hey everyone!
I have found a temperature sensor that does about the same job as the old one, but the specs are not exactly identical (like my boss though possible to find!) I'm wondering:
Should i keep on looking, hopefully to find one that will match perfectly the specs
OR
Use this one and design an interface that would allow the new sensor and the old communication module to work together? If i do choose this path, any ideas on how to get started?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Interfacing sensor and command module
'communication module' means?
Why are you doing this? What happened to the 'old' sensor?
Can't you just buy a replacement from the original source?
RE: Interfacing sensor and command module
Brandname: HHS Systems.
The control module is the C-1100 (PLC type) and controls the settings for the glu application.
The old sensor is working just fine but my boss hopes to find one that is smaller.
The thing is that the glu applicator system is sold as a whole. The sensor is only one part and HHS isn't going to give me the specs, so that i can find another one that matches the I/O signals between the current sensor and the C-1100 control module.
So i beleive i have to reverse engineer the current sensor, measure I/O signals with scope and analyser, find a new one, design an interface that will allow the new sensor and the C-1100 to communicate, then simulate, test and implement.
All that to gain 2" of clearance? (oh boy!) Or is there another way around?
