Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

(OP)
This is about the same problem I had in March of 2007 and never successfully solved. (see http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=180218 )

In MathCAD 12 table display works fine, but I have never succeeded in making it work in MathCAD 13.

There are options which are supposed to effect this display situation, but they have no effect. Re-installing the application has no effect. Others have had the same problem. Mathcad 13 CAN display results with the menu drilldown:

    menu pick>>
    FORMAT>>
    Result...>>
    Display Options>>
    Matrix display style>>
    Matrix>>
    OK

However the described behavior takes place for Matrix display style>>Automatic, and Matrix display style>>Table

In mathcad 13 the problem can be reproduced by:

EXAMPLE 1
    i := 1..10
    i = (nothing gets displayed for i except placeholder rectangle)

  The keypresses to produce this are:

    i:1;10<enter key>
    i=<enter key>

EXAMPLE 2
  This also effects displaying of variables such as:

     Arf<sub>i := i
     Arf= (nothing gets displayed for Arf except placeholder rectangle)
     Arfi= (nothing gets displayed for Arfi except placeholder rectangle)

  The keypresses to produce this are:

     Arf[i:i<enter key>
     Arf=<enter key>
     arf[i=<enter key>

Are you referring to WindowsXP service packs or Mathcad service packs? WindowsXP is up to date.

My Mathcad version is 13.1
I don't remember if I had the problem with 13.0, but I vaguely remember updating to 13.1 to try to fix it without success.

I bought Mathcad 13 before it was sold to SPC. When I choose update from "Help>>Mathcad Update" I get downloading diagnostic (1%)...>>

  Script:  ...\Temp\WGTemp.vbs
  Line: 1
  Char: 1
  Error: Expected statement
  Code: 800A0400
  Source: Microsoft VBScript compilation error

Are there possible updates I don't have? I never figured out what SPC support was about and I have had no updates since mathcad passed to SPC.

RE: Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

Who is SPC? Mathsoft was purchased by PTC, the makers of Pro/E and Windchill.

As I mentioned, my version 13.1 shows no error, and, I've never seen this particular problem flagged on the Mathsoft user forums.

Actually I posted it in March, 2007 (see link below)
   http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=180218

Also this appears to be the same problem which a few people had similar experience with:
  http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=172423&page=1

In looking around my system I discovered I probably would do well to clean up as there seem to be a lot of old mathcad folders around. I don't really know how to clean them up. Perhaps I should uninstall, delete them all, and then reinstall. I don't know...here are the folders:

RE: Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

I don't have any problem with my Mathcad Ver. 13.1. My last service pack was in September 2006.

RE: Long Time MathCAD 13 problem

sounds like an install problem. Try thr windows repair. this is an option inthe add programmes, when 'change' is selected.

News flash!!! mathcad started acting strange so I closed it and tried to run it again, and it kept crashing. I then ran the Windows Task Manager and ended the mathcad process tree.

I then ran mathcad and to my surprise the tables displayed correctly for the first time in over a year!

I then closed and rebooted the computer and tried running mathcad again. This time I kept getting the notorious failed to run server error message as mathcad worked its way through the worksheet.

I then went to the control panel and tried the mathcad>>change>>repair. Mathcad reinstalled, but unlike the past fail attempts at reinstalling to fix the problem, this time mathcad reinstalled and now as far as I can tell works perfectly!

(long sigh of relief)

Thanks,  John
