A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

(OP)
Im taking a quick glance at the heat loss through an insulated pipe (A-672 Gr60). I however do not have the ASTM Spec at this time. Can anyone tell me the thermal conductivity of such material @ 75F. Thanks

RE: A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

The spec ASME SA 672 does not provide heat transfer properties of the carbon steel pipe. Just try google "Wrought Carbon Steel thermal conductivity" and pick an answer. You could also generate your own graph from the answers found.
cheers,

RE: A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

From ASME Section II, Part D Physical Properties Table gfor this group of steel

at 70 deg F, 12.8 BTU/hr-ft-degF

Thanks,
I think you meant Table TCD. But anyhow, This is exactly what I was looking for. I didnt even realize this table was in ASME Section II.

RE: A-672 Gr 60 Thermal Conductivity?

I think metengr may have accidently quoted the value for 9 Cr material. For carbon steel at 75°F, ASME lists the thermal conductivity as being 34.9 BTU/hr-ft-°F.

I would advise you to download 3EPlus to run these calculations:
