According to ASTM standard, grade F51/2205 charpy test is tested at -46 degree celcius, but why my customer request at -50 degree celcius? Any difference between these two temperature?

RE: F51/2205

Well, -46 deg C is a nice round number in deg F: -50...

RE: F51/2205

zulsaid,
The standard impact testing of that material is listed at -50F / -46C. The material may operate at lower temperature than -46C, provided that it is tested for that temperature and a minimum impact test value of x Joules, corrected for the new impact test temperature, is achieved. This method is allowed in several international pressure vessel codes (eg. AS 1210 in Australia).
