where can i find engine tech drawings?

where can i find engine tech drawings?

where can i find engine tech drawings?

(OP)
Hi
Im trying to find tech drawings for the Jaguar AJ16 engine.
Especialy looking for drawings of exhaust manifold matting side of head (stud placement and exhaust port geometry).
Any ideas, been googling for days but no luck. Maybe a different search term?
Building new headers and would prefer to work from correct drawings rather than measurments if possible.

Thanks for your time guys.

RE: where can i find engine tech drawings?

I just match exhaust flanges to the exhaust flange gasket.

Hi Pat

Yep thats exaclty how im doing at the moment. Its just im having a batch made up so everything needs to be spot on, that and my CAD guy gets most upset if he can't work to .0001 :).Tell him a couple of mm is ok and the look on his face is classic.

RE: where can i find engine tech drawings?

Get a CAD guy with some sense of reality.

RE: where can i find engine tech drawings?

A couple mm off in a cad model makes the difference between parts that fit and parts that hit the scrap bin.

Give him the stock manifold and a caliper and let him go to town. Or access to the head is even better IMO.

I would never suggest using the gasket to create the flange.
9 times out of 10 there is a pretty large difference between the gasket and the mating flange dimensions.

On the vehical I just built a turbo manifold for there was about 3-4mm difference between the head and the stock manifold flange and another 2-3 between the flange and the OEM gasket.

RE: where can i find engine tech drawings?

Those guys drive machinist mad. Default tolerancing of CAD.
The average "New" engineer has no concept of a tolerance, and what it is to hold it.
Remove the part and use precision measuring techniques to establish the dimensions you need.
