How many PPM H2S can my A-106 GR.B pipe handle?

How many PPM H2S can my A-106 GR.B pipe handle?

Hi,
Newly graduated Engineer who has ventured into of selecting pipes for H2S service.

I am looking at NACE MROI 75/ISO 151 56-2 after reading the forums and post on here. The pipe I have is ASTM A-106 Gr. B and need verification this 6'' process gas pipe is suitable to handle 300 PPM H2S.
According to NACE the material is suitable for H2S Service but I am lost in finding how much it can handle reading or what the ppm limit is? Could anyone explain?

Thanks

Try to determine a corrosion rate based on the H2S and other gas stream components, CO2, water, etc. and the pressure and temperature of the gas stream itself.  Add an appropriate corrosion allowance to the wall thickness of the pipe, such that without that additional metal assumed to be lost over the years of the pipe's operating life, the pressure stresses will always remain below the design limit.

In terms of using ISO 15156, there is no upper limit of H2S for carbon steel.  But, as pointed out by BigInch, ISO 15156 only deals with some, not all, H2S related degradation mechanisms. Try sifting through the following search results to get some more flavour of what shoudl feature in a materials selection process:

I should be clearer by adding that there is no upper limit of H2S when Option 1 of ISO 15156-2 is being exercised.

I have seen Class 300 acid gas at over 15% H2S using carbon steel piping.

Cheers Guys for the help. I will investigate your recomendations.
