Shear Deformation in beams in SAP2000?

Shear Deformation in beams in SAP2000?

Shear Deformation in beams in SAP2000?

(OP)
I know that thin shell elements do not account for shear deformations, while thick shell elements do.  However, I am wondering if these effects are accounted for in beam analysis and if so, if there is a way to turn it on and off.  Any insight here would be appreciated.

RE: Shear Deformation in beams in SAP2000?

Shear deformations are included in beam elements by default.  If you want check beam deflections without accounting for shear deflection, one option is to set the frame property modifier for shear area to a very high number.
