Box or rectangle around text characters

Box or rectangle around text characters

Is there a way to create a rectangle around a portion of a note or text string?  I do not want to put it around the entire string just part of it.

RE: Box or rectangle around text characters

There are a couple of options:

1. Make your note, then draw a rectangle around the desired text.  Problem is that the box doesn't move with the text.

2. Make your note, then create a "Box" style balloon ("Tight Fit" size) containing enough spaces to match the length of the text you want to enclose.  Line the balloon up over the portion of the note you want to enclose, select balloon and note, RMB->Group.  Now the box and the text move as a unit.  If you change the note text you can un-group, move the box, and re-group.

Neither is great, but that's about all I can come up with.

Paul-
Actually there is another way, as was discussed in thread559-219908: Where Does this Symbol Reside. Create a balloon, add a border and text, open your annotation, and click on the balloon, it will be added to the note. You can the shrink the original balloon down to 1 pt. and hide it somewhere in your title block. If your text needs to change, go to the original balloon and and edit it.

True, I forgot about that method.  The original balloon doesn't really have to be hidden in the title block either. Just stick it off the printable area of the sheet.

PAULBLAIR,
Curious why you want a box around notes. The only time I see a box is when someone wants to ref a datum. In this case you can insert a datum into a note in SW.

RE: Box or rectangle around text characters

Why not do a note with the border of box around it, type the info you want, then start another note without the border and finish the note (to move them together just window select both notes.  If the bordered text is in the middle of the note, just leave leave spaces between the words where the bordered text goes.
