Hi Everyone!

Can somebody help me re serviceability criteria on the design of beam... What is the maximum allowed permanent deflection?

L/250?, L/300, L/200?

Can somebody also help me regarding the maximum imposed deflection??

Check your design code.  It can depend on a number of factors, type of beam, material, finish etc

Yes, we would need to know much more information.  Is it a spandrel, floor beam, roof beam?  What is it supporting?  Etc......

Its a floor beam with 6m span.

You need to look in your local building code, as mentioned above. We cannot make the determination for you.

This is definitely one of those engineering judgment and experience issues. AISC and ACI both have guidelines for deflection criteria, as well as a lot wealth of other resources. As mentioned before, it depends on what material the beam is and what it is supporting (roof loads, floor loads, suspended ceilings, plaster ceilings, etc.). If you are still having problems determining the criteria, you should consult your mentor or boss and see what standard practices your firm is using rather than just creating your own.

Definitely need to check with your boss and ask more questions about this, but I have use: L/360 live load deflection in alot of cases.  But that is for steel roof beams.
