Coil Penetration

Coil Penetration

Coil Penetration

(OP)
Hi

I'm calculating a vessel with a internal coil. How can I apply UG-45 and UG-37 to coil penetration through the heads?
Should I use the vessel internal pressure as coil externalç pressure? How?
- Vessel's internal pressure: 6 bar.
- Coil internal pressure: 79 bar.

Thanks

RE: Coil Penetration

The Code requires reinforcement for openings per UG-37. The coil wall thickness is calculated per the coil internal pressure if that's the design pressure (not the differential pressure). Once you got the coil diameter(s) and wall thickness, you have the opening geometry for reinforcement calculation per UG-37. The UG-45 doesn't apply in this case, because the coil wall thickness is determined by the coil internal pressure.
