Automatically Remove Material When Inserting a Part

Automatically Remove Material When Inserting a Part

(OP)
Hello, I'm new to Inventor.  I would like to know if there is a slick way to perform the following:

Say you are casting a pipe in concrete.  I would like to create an assembly of a concrete part and a pipe where the assembly automatically removes the material within the outer boundaries of the pipe? (remove the concrete from the pipe itself and the inside of the pipe as well)

I know that I can make a hole and then insert the pipe, but a more elegant solution would be nice.  This is a fairly repetitive task and it would be nice to cut the number of keystrokes.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

RE: Automatically Remove Material When Inserting a Part

I would use skeletal modeling techniques with Derived Components.  Adaptive parts might be another method.  iParts and/or could be a third method for repetitive stuff.

If someone could elaborate on how to do this I'd love to learn it.

Drag the red End of Part marker above all of your features and save the file.  Right click on the filename and select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder.  Attach what you have so far here.
