getting the syslog

getting the syslog

getting the syslog

(OP)
Hi

NX4.0.4.2 MP3... I want a program which will automatically capture the syslog when NX encounters some fatal errors, hangs up,does not produce the .op2 file ,will not be able to save the file etc.. Is it posiible to handle these conditions in thru a program.. does anyone do this? does anyone have this prog? Can I get it , so that i can test it in my envt...

Thanks in advance

RE: getting the syslog

Anytime NX reports any kind of error, or it crashes, aborts or you have to 'end task' to kill the session, the syslog is automatically saved to the C:\WINDOWS\temp directory.

RE: getting the syslog

... for this reason it could be helpfull so set this variable:
UGII_KEEP_SYSTEM_LOG=YES
i hp it hlps

RE: getting the syslog

If you don't find the syslog in c:\windows\temp then try C:\Documents and Settings\"userid"\Local Settings\Temp

RE: getting the syslog

Even without the variable UGII_KEEP_SYSTEM_LOG=YES set, the sessions where there were errors will be saved.  All the above switch will do is force the system to save the syslog for EVERY session, whether there were errors or not.

RE: getting the syslog

Perfect timing, I was just submitting an IR, and due to it being a fatal error, I was wondering how to get the syslog.

Thanks!

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.
