Technical abbreviations

Technical abbreviations

Technical abbreviations

(OP)

Hi all:

I have difficulty to understand quite a few of the technical (english) abbreviations used in the forum. For instance: What is a BTW, SAT, RAT, GSU?

Is there any publication available listing technical abbreviations?

Thanks

Me too slava, bravo!

RE: Technical abbreviations

I thought SAT was the Standard Achievement Test, and RAT was associated with the Nixon election campaign. Good work Slava. I have been watching your English skills increase daily since you joined this forum. I am impressed.

Slava:

Seems that I have to ask you in the future if I have problems with technical abbreviations. Nobody responded sofar that an abbreviation list of this sort is available somewhere. I'm still trying to locate something in the internet.

On the funny side:

It was reported that an increase of UTI, in combination with the presence of HGH, can reduce the VC of BHK.

I give you one star for translating the above.

RE: Technical abbreviations

http://www.acronymfinder.com/ is a good site for acronyms in general.  Can't figure out whether you mean Pretty Damn Funny or Pretty Darn Fast, though.auto

Thanks jghrist:

This acronymfinder is exactly the tool I need for better understanding the forums threads and posts. I tested RAT and found 46 verified and 141 unverified meanings, including slavas "reserve auxiliary transformer".

BTW, the abbreviations below I found in a medical acronym finder and I used them in yesterdays mistery sentence:

UTI = Urinary Tract Infection

HGH = Human Growth Hormone

VC = Vital Capacity

BHK = Baby Hamster Kidney

Now you can translate what my mistery sentence was about. We now can close this thread. Thanks to you all.
