RE: Dutch Rules for Pressure Vessels (Stoomwezen)
The directive has very specific requirements regarding risk assessment and you can obtain acopy from http://ped.eurodyn.net
This directive removes all national requirements from member states and all restrictions to trade as long as the requirements of the directive are met.
No one member state can insist that you use a specific design code so you could use ASME VIII Div.1 (USA), PD5500 (UK), AD-Merkblatter (Germany) or Stoomwezen (Netherlands).
There are one or two problems at the moment. Although you don't have to use AD-Merkblatter in Germany the new set of codes are not valid until 29th May and so, if you do use this code before this date outside of Germany you still need 3.1c material certificates. The German system is also being attacked at present becuase they are adding new restrictions to trade. They are setting different mandatory inspection intervals for AD-Merkblatter and other codes, making it uneconomical to use any other code. We presume that they will be taken to the European Courts in the not to distant future.
