The difference with different grooving tools for LL

(OP)
Can anybody tell me if there is a difference in the LL, determined by the Casagrande method, using the different grooving tools?

The grooving tools as specified in the TMH1 (South African), and the ASTM method?

RE: The difference with different grooving tools for LL

I have always suspected the thick bar tool would result in fewer drops than the flat thing which creates a given height shoulder, meaning the height of soil above the groove is less with the last tool.  However, I never bothered to see if there was a difference.
