Shop Hydrotest Pressure

(OP)
Hi All,

when designing a P.V. through compress, the (Shop)Hydrotest Pressure should be 1.3 times MAWP or MAP or DP?

appreciate your help

Thanks

RE: Shop Hydrotest Pressure

The hydrotest pressure is regulated by ASME VIII UG-99(2), which says:
"...vessels designed for internal pressure shall be subjected to a hydrostatic test pressure which at every point in the vessel is at least equal to 1.3 times the maximum allowable working pressure to be marked on the vessel multiplied by the lowest ratio (for the materials of which the vessel is constructed) of the stress value S for the test temperature on the vessel to the stress value S for the design temperature..."
cheers,

RE: Shop Hydrotest Pressure

hahoo
If you are not calculating the MAWP then the DP is used as the basis for the hydrotest pressure calculation
