Allow Snap to closest point in NX5

Allow Snap to closest point in NX5

(OP)
Hello!

I'm using NX5.

I would like to use the "Allow Snap to closest point" If it didn't switch off every time. Can I fix this function?

Has anybody a good idea?

Thank you the answers!

RE: Allow Snap to closest point in NX5

In what context (function) are you attempting to use this?

At least in NX 5.0.5.3 (which I'm running) this works in the sense that its dependent on the function that you're using it in.  What I mean is if I toggle this ON in say Line Point-Point it will still be ON the next time I use Line Point-Point, but it will NOT be ON in say Circle Center-Point unless I also explicitly turn it ON there as well.

Also note this generally only behaves this way for functions where the dialogs have been fully updated to the new so-called NX 5 standard, but there are exceptions.  For example, this works when creating a Block but a Studio Spline even though neither of those functions have been fully updated.  Eventually, as all of the dialogs get updated, this behavior will catch up with those functions as well.

Thank you John!

I understand what you said but,

For example:
1. In Sketch I use Line ("Allow Snap to closest point"=ON)
2. Change to Circle command ("ASTCP"=OFF)
3. Change back to Line command ("ASTCP"=OFF) <- forgot it

So, my question is: In Sketch can I toggle this ON for good anywhere? (In Customer Defaults, etc.?)

Thank you very much!

RE: Allow Snap to closest point in NX5

There is no way to turn it on and keep it on.  Also I'm not sure that the current behavior is correct since outside the sketcher is behaves differently and therefore we have a lack of consistency so I'm going to open a PR and see what I learn.
