V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

(OP)
Just yesterday I started receiving the following Catia error:

V5 Memory Management Warning
   Warning: Memory limitation is exceeded
Recommendation:  please try to save your date and restart your session.

So far, it only happens when I use the command "Generate CATPart from Product..."
I get the error and am not permitted to create the CATPart.

Has anyone else seen this problem or know what is causing it?  It doesn't appear to be a PC issue.

We are using V5 R17, service pack 5

Thanks,

RE: V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

It is not a problem it is a feature. Tools->options->General->General tab->trigger memory warning at X% is set and you are consuming more than X% of available memory space. This is here to help you avoid CATIA abends due to exhausing private memory address space. You could look at using the 3gb switch on windows XP or other OS memory management variable if you are on UNIX or switch to using 64bit versions of OS & CATIA. If the product to part operation complets correctly then you may not need to do anything (though you are going to make some big parts.

The memory limits described here are a feature of the Operating System and have nothing to do with CATIA. The only reason you see these with CATIA, is 3D data consumes large quantities of memory by definition.

The "Trigger Memory Warning at..." option is not checked.

Like I said, I have never had this issue before...it just started for no apparent reason.  I have created many CATParts from CATProducts in the past without any issues.

RE: V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

Yes but this one is bigger memory wise than anything you have done before or your catsettings are knackered and you are geting the memory warning at some arbitrary value.

RE: V5 Memory Management Warning.....????

You got to change virtual memory of your system.
This is regarding windows OS.

1. right click on 'my computer' and select 'properties'
2. go to 'Advanced' tab and click on settings under 'performance' and a new window appears
3. go to 'Advanced' tab in that window and click on 'change' under 'virtual memory' and one more window appears.
4. change the custome size to some 10000MB and maximum size to 12000MB. Ofcourse this figure you shud select based on the free space available on disk C.

And you are done.

To do this, u shud login as administrator.

Runz - Is your CATPart exceeding 500meg?  One member of our design team likes to keep old data in his Master Part file.  I received this message on his 32bit and my 64bit system.  Error disappeared when I cleaned the file.

Regards,
Derek

My product file is 1.00 Meg.  It consists of 40 parts, with none being extremely complicated.

What do you mean by "Cleaned the file"?

Thanks,
