Need Opinion on Ditch Modeling

Need Opinion on Ditch Modeling

Need Opinion on Ditch Modeling

(OP)
I have road side ditch in Which I plan to install check dams to store some water and eventually reduce peak discharge. I have modeled one location which I have attached with this post.I have divided contributing areas per segment. For instance Area 1 flows to a ditch(R1) and blocked temporarily by a check dam (CD#1) and then over tops it and enters into the next segment of the ditch at the same time and so on. Assuming the rainfall is consistent in entire length of the roadway, all of the segment will be receiving water almost the same time (depending on Tc of individual area)

Could you be kind enough to take a look at it and let me know if my approach is correct? or do I need to modify it. I started using the software just recently and I am trying to make sure that I am using it correctly as well as all of its capability. I realized that there are many expert user of this program in this group and I greatly appreciate it if you provide your insight.

RE: Need Opinion on Ditch Modeling

In order to retain tailwater capability, you should route directly from pond-to-pond, without the intermediate reach.  For details see www.hydrocad.net/checkdams.htm
