How to make the NX Documentation (and CAST) more useful...

How to make the NX Documentation (and CAST) more useful...

How to make the NX Documentation (and CAST) more useful...

(OP)
I've noticed that there are often useful nuggets of information related to a specific topic (say, Attributes, or Automatic Text in drawings, for example) that exist in several places in the documentation.  It's bothered me sometimes that in spite of being able to search the documentation; in spite of the existing tree structured index; etc, I still sometimes have trouble locating (or re-locating) those nuggets.

I don't have a discrete solution to suggest, but I think some form of more advanced hyperlinking or other associativity could be employed to more usefully link these scattered, but related, pieces of information.

For example: if you are viewing the page about Automatic Text (Documentation>Drafting>Insert and Tools>Sheet>Insert Sheet Options>Drawing Sheet Templates>Automatic text), it might also be useful to immediately know you can vie the info about "Parts List Attributes" (Documentation>Drafting>Edit>Style>Parts List Attributes).  But when looking at Automatic Text, and clicking on the "Related Topics" link, it sends you to 1 page only: "Drawing Templates Overview".  When looking at the Parts List Attributes documentation, there are apparently no Related Topics.

Basically, there's a lot of useful info in the Documentation, it's just hard to locate sometimes, even if you KNOW you've read whatever it is you're looking for, before.  With the application of a bit more complete inter-linking and/or maybe some completely new, more advanced tagging/searching functionality, the Documentation could become a lot more useful.

RE: How to make the NX Documentation (and CAST) more useful...

Hi potrero,
I agree that the search need to be improved. But if you want to know where the searched page belongs to, for example if you type "Parts List Attributes" in the search, and click on any resulted links, (the link will open in new window if you are searching in internet explorer i.e. outside ug), then click on 'contents' button in the opened page, it will highlight the page location in the tree left side. Sometimes there will be "Show" or "Hide" button available on the top right corner, which will also show the location of the page in the tree.
