Complex Copper Cast

Complex Copper Cast

Complex Copper Cast

(OP)
Hey everyone, this is my first post.

I need to make a plaster mold that is non reactive with copper and can be removed with ease. The mold will be highly intricate, so the copper is poured at a superheat temp of 2100F. Any ideas?

So far I have done this:

tested a sulfur based casting plaster, it reacts with the copper
currently using a phosphate based plaster, it is extremely difficult to remove

I was considering ethyl silicate, but I can't find very much information on it being used as a casting mold.

Thanks guys

RE: Complex Copper Cast

Yes ethyl silicate is being used in an art gallery to make copper and bronze statues and figurines. But do you have the technology to make a wax model and invest the slurry, dry it and bake it etc?

Chocolates, men, coffee: are somethings liked better rich!!
(noticed in a coffee shop)

I have all the equipment for baking out the wax, and a vacuum flask setup for creating the mold.

Here's another interesting question, which I am going to post in another thread because it deserves the attention.

Can something that is normally used as a slurry coating, be used as a solid plaster-like mold?
