Greetings,
Does anyone have a good reference that indicates the variation of flexural stiffness of a shell element with the amount of meshing?
Meaning if I have a 30' x 30' bay and lateral load transfer is from floor elements to a wall element, then how much effect does the degree of meshing have on the lateral stiffness (flexural stiffness) of the shell element?
I am trying to see how much accuracy in lateral stiffness maybe lost when I choose a coarse mesh over a finer mesh.
Any ideas?

Try it and see what happens. A good analyst will run case studies to see how model changes effect results.
