Pressure Testing Water Main with Super Chlorinated Water

Pressure Testing Water Main with Super Chlorinated Water

(OP)
Anyone know of any drawbacks to pressure testing a new C900 PVC main while the super chlorinated water is in the line?

RE: Pressure Testing Water Main with Super Chlorinated Water

If you are pumping the system up to the hydrostatic test pressure, you would have to use disinfected water. Your pumping test equipment would also have to be disinfected.

I would also think there may be the catastrophe scenario where if a valve or flange let go during testing you would have to explain why you dumped many gallons of highly chlorinated water into the environment.  On the flip side, you might be able to smell any leaks as well as see them!
