silicon free valve

silicon free valve

silicon free valve

(OP)
Can anybody tell me what silicon free butterfly valve means?

free silicon means:

no silicon content in rubber seat?
no silicon in paint?
no silicon in grease?
no silicon in the metal?

I heard that silicon free butterfly valve should be used in Auto industry? What is the reason?

Thanks

RE: silicon free valve

All the above plus no silicon mold release agents for plastic parts.  Silicon kills catalytic converters.

Thanks Dgallup.

Can we say the stainless steel metal silicon free?
Is there any standard to limit the silicon contant?

RE: silicon free valve

bao2ye,

This question would be better asked in one of the other forums.  Some of the process control or fluids people probably use these valves, and they will be more able to answer your question.

RE: silicon free valve

In addition to choosing a different forum, I would also suggest that you make sure you're talking about silicon as opposed to silicone, or vice versa.

RE: silicon free valve

Well, silicones are compounds of silicon so anything silicon free must also be silicone free.

Scroll down to the part about catalyst poisoning.

Many industrial processes need to be SILICONE free as well.  Silicone will migrate on almost any surface and causes problems with painting lines, microchip manufacturing, etc.
