Fellers,

I want to clear something in my mind.  We do mostly low seismic projects in the midwest.  If we have SDC A-C are we required to use the Cd and the overstrength factor in designing our bracing connections for steel framed buildings?  I am reveiwing the Seismic revisions and it states SDC D or higher are subject to the requirements

thanks

RE: AISD seismic provisions

No, if you are in SDC C or lower, then you the AISC Seismic specs do not apply. You can use an R of 3 and design it just like a regular building with non-seismic connections.

Just pray that the New Madrid Fault is no larger than they think...  nosmiley
