Dear All,
Please let me know, if UG29/30 are applicable to design the stiffening ring that is not welded or brazed to shell.(The ring is included 2same piece that attached to gether by bolts)

In my copy of ASME VIII Div 1 UG30 a). states that stiffening rings can be placed on the inside or outside of a vessel and SHALL be attached to the shell by welding or brazing.

So the answer is no.
