Assigning different material to the same part in different steps

Assigning different material to the same part in different steps

(OP)
Hello Everybody!

Is it possible to assign different material to the same part in different steps.Or it is always required to make a new part.
I would be grateful for the suggestion.

madhavi27,

I do not understand why you need to change materials in steps. It would be easy to build another model with the different material. Will it work for you?

RE: Assigning different material to the same part in different steps

Hi madhavi27,

I dont think it is possible to assign different material properties to the same part in different steps. For certain material properties a work around is to have a temperature dependent material property defined and change the temperature of the part in the different steps. The temperature change of the part can be specified within a heat transfer analysis. These temperatures can then be read into a structural analysis by way of a predefined field.
