help me with sketcher

help me with sketcher

help me with sketcher

(OP)
I have some problem with sketcher.please help:

1-How can I snap an end point of a line to a spline? I can only snap to lines, arcs and spline endpoints (not to the curve itself)

2-i also want to add a tangent relation between a line and a spline but I cant. (again not at the end point)

RE: help me with sketcher

i am pretty dissapointed with proengineer. how come a descent CAD package like this cant do a simple task like that? come on!

RE: help me with sketcher

I don't know why but splines cannot be worked with as easily as lines and circles.

I find it's better to put the points down first and then create the spline along the points. Lines and curves can be placed using the same points and the sketch becomes parametric.

Like I said, I don't know why splines cannot be constrained as easily as lines, circles and arc etc...but this is a work around.

RE: help me with sketcher

You can sometimes place a point on the spline and get a coincident relation but I think it limits you to one. If you make separate sketches you may be able to do it.

But yeah I've been disappointed with the Pro/E sketcher for a while no dynamic relation adding capability aside from the Intent Manager.

MechatroPro

draw a spline , drop your points in then drop a "sketch " point near one of the spline middle points.

go to constraints .... create same point ..target with a line thru it...
select your sketch point then the spline point.. you should get dims for the point .. drag it around the spline should go for the ride

you can even line sketch points with a existing edge , you'll drop a dim and it will slide up the edge, then line up the split to the sk points.. you can slide your spline up the edge.. add more points ...etc.

if you need tangent to a point on the spline, then create a construction line between the spline endpoints.. midpoint on that.. line from the mid to the point you need your tangency.. you need it to be able to create a datum point, so you can create a datum axis with the dat point and the spline..

you don't really need it from the middle of the spline it less likely to wash out tho and a construction line doesn't allow dat points to be created from

I hope that helps .. do some playing with it you might get the results you need
