French Aircraft Rivet specs

French Aircraft Rivet specs

French Aircraft Rivet specs

(OP)
Hi all,  Looked at some impact damage on a wing LE of a TBM700 yesterday and the a/c is assembled with rivets with three small raised dashes on the head as a rivet identifier.  Typically on US a/c, as you all know, it would be a single dimple identifier for an MS20470AD rivet in this application.
Where can I find a spec sheet or equivalency sheet to our AD's?  There is no SRM and the IPC is useless to this level of detail.
Thanks for your comments.
Wil Taylor, what say you?        JQC

RE: French Aircraft Rivet specs

You don't mention the maintenance manual - which unfortunately does not identify head markings either.  But it does have Chapter 51-40-00 which identifies round head rivets as type 5600, which comes in alloy 2117.T4 or 2017.T4.  Another distinguishing aspect is the diameter, the 2017.T4 or material code 7 comes in 3.6mm (9/64) or larger, while the 2117.T4 or material code 6 comes in 3.2mm (1/8) or larger.

So - if you have an 1/8" round head rivet, it is like the MS20470AD4 (but that's your call as far as equivalency).

Or just play it safe and replace with MS20470D, MS20470DD, or MS20470E.

JQCF1,

Looking at the SOCATA website, there is a MM for the aircraft.  You didn't say if you have access to that, but who knows, it may contain rivet info.

Other than that, you may have to contact SOCATA.  Knowing how Airbus/Aerospatiale/EADS works, they may have come up with an alternate for the fastener, but the info never trickled down to the GA side.

I can't find anything in my stack of stuff on the 7075 T73 "J" rivet.  The only Boeing fastener I could find was a slug rivet that is obsolete for future design and procurement.  I suspect that the "E" (or KE rivet in Boeing lingo) would be an alternate given the superior stress corrosion cracking properties of 7050 compared to 7075.

To all the contributors to my question...

My initial description was correct but not quite clear....mia culpa!!

The three raised dashes are in a straight line (like a DD but three) not in the 43.13 form for a 7075-T73 head.
The location was fairly benign so we went ahead with MS20470AD rivets and we are only talking about replacing two rivets.  The added rivets are "new" and are also 470AD's.

MIL HDBK 5 has a listing for 7050-T73 but nothing on the 7075-T73 that is shown in 43.13; just another inconsistency that we deal with all the time!!

I've sent an e-mail to EADS/Socata but no reply yet.
Thanks for your astute comments and have a great holiday weekend.
