Bend radii conflict

Bend radii conflict

Bend radii conflict

(OP)
I was just reviewing my recommended bend radii chart for dual certified 1/2" A36/44W plate.

The values for the 2 different grades are not the same, what is acceptable practice for dual certified plates.

RE: Bend radii conflict

You have bend radii for each because the different grades do not exhibit the same work hardening, capacity for deformation and springback characteristics.

RE: Bend radii conflict

In this case, though, he doesn't have two different grades of plate, he has one plate certified to meet the requirements of two different specs or grades.

Meeting the requirements of both means taking the more conservative of the two wherever there's a difference.  In that case, you need to take the more conservative bend radius requirement (the larger one).
