Problems with multiple icons in NX5 (and NX3/4)

Problems with multiple icons in NX5 (and NX3/4)

(OP)
NX: 5 (all MP's and MR's, and also all versions of NX3/4)
Platform: Solaris

Hi!

Has anybody else experienced icons being multiplied in the toolbars? (See images in the attached link). And, more importantly, do you have a solution to the problem?

The problem occurs every now and then wether we're using CDE, KDE, OpenLook, fvwm, ... as the window manager.

I've reported the problem in NX3, NX4 and NX5 but Siemens PLM has only responded "we cannot reproduce the problem". I set my hope to professionals in this list.

Yours,
Peter Jeppsson

RE: Problems with multiple icons in NX5 (and NX3/4)

(OP)
Well, yes and no.

The problem resides in the the "profile-files" in the users .nx5-directory (or .nx3/.nx4). If a user has a problem with "duplicate icons" the problem will stay until the "profile" is deleted/restored. "Duplicate icons" will show on all Solaris-computers (and no matter what window-manager the user uses).

I can't reproduce the problem on request, but it happens every now and then (appr. once a day or so when I give courses in NX).

/Peter
