IP56 Ingress Protection on a Non-Tapered Thread
IP56 Ingress Protection on a Non-Tapered Thread
(OP)
Hello,
I have a straight-threaded barrel going through a cover plate, and I need to have IP56 ingress protection.
Does anyone have any experience sealing on straight threads? Will it be enough to just put some teflon tape on the threads? I'm trying to stay away from pipe dope, because I'm worried that it will get washed away in the water spray if it's the kind that dries soft, and I'm worried that it will crack from vibration if it's the kind that hardens when it dries.
Thanks!

Some other options other than gooooop.
It would be helpful to know:
What type of straight thread? size? male or female?
When doing bsp or metric, they use straight female BSPP (parallel)with a male BSPT (tapered)or parallel on both and one uses an o-ring/sealing washer.
Looking at your thread pitch you may find a match.
Otherwise, bolts exist with an o-ring under the head. Size limited, but that can be made custom with a dash o-ring.
Also, sealing washers with an acorn nut.
