acetic acid at 80%
acetic acid at 80%
(OP)
I'm in a process application bind and received good help here.
Hoping someone would know if 316 S.S. is the right type of valve choice for acetic acid ( 80 % ) concentration, 70 PSI at 250 deg.F
Thanks for any help on this.

RE: acetic acid at 80%
Do yourself a favour and check out the Outokumpu website, they are giving away their latest edition of the Corrosion Handbook, it worth its weight in gold. According to this corrosion bible, at 80% concentration above 106 deg C (BP), the corrosion will affect not only the 316 (rates 1 - 2 mm/year), but might also affect Titanium, SAF 2507, etc.., particularly in localised pitting attack.
