Replacing a 1/2 HP AC motor with a DC motor

Replacing a 1/2 HP AC motor with a DC motor

(OP)
I am off the grid in Arizona. I would like to replace a 1/2 HP ac motor in an evaporative cooler with a 24v or 48v DC motor. Is there a cross reference table that could accomplish this, or a manufacturer that would provide this information?

RE: Replacing a 1/2 HP AC motor with a DC motor

Pretty dang expensive...

Go to http://www.grainger.com

Select "M"

Find the motor selector.  Pick the DC motors.  Select voltage and HP.

Probably going to be around $350.

Bosch has a wide range of motors. This one http://www.boschmotorsandcontrols.co.uk/elektromotoren/produkt/0130302001/index.htm may be a bit too large, but they have much smaller ones. Which speed do you need? And, are you sure you need 1/2 HP? The existing motor may be running at less than full load.
