John, using your grip

John, using your grip

John, using your grip

John, I've been looking at previous attribute posts, and in one, you posted a grip of yours which is called "dwg_info" , I've tried chopping it up but i don't understand the language.
All i want is a grip, which adds the current date to the existing "date" attribute (overwrites).
But the date needs to be day/month/year, format, using a dot between each.
Could you please help ?

RE: John, using your grip

OK, attached are two GRIP programs (since I didn't know how you wanted the 'year' to be formatted).

'assign_date-1.grx' assigns a Part Attribute titled DATE in the format of 'dd.mm.yy'.

'assign_date-2.grx' assigns a Part Attribute titled DATE in the format of 'dd.mm.yyyy'.

I hope this helps.

thanks John,
the first one is the one, I've been trying to string it together 3 times, to get it to add, DRAFTER_DATE , ENGINEER_DATE , APPROVED_DATE  .

I thought i'd be able to sus it from reading the other programs.  I've looked at help, but i think i need  a training course.  Would you mind altering it to add these, Thanks....

thanks John, you're a star.
I'll see if i can understand a bit more how to write them.
Are there any tutorials or training available ?

RE: John, using your grip

Since GRIP is really a sort of 'dead' language (at least in terms of it not being fully up-to-date and modern) there is nothing out there that I can think of.  Of course we still have the user documentation which technically contains everything that you need.

OK, well thanks for your help.
Incidentally, in one of the posts, you advised someone to do this type of thing with a grip, cos journal doesn't do it as well, and since, it sounds as if grip will be dropped, will journal be enhanced to encompass this functionality?

RE: John, using your grip

GRIP will NOT be dropped, just that Journaling is based on a much more modern approach and one that is easy to use by non-programmers which was always the strength of GRIP, it was simple and easy to learn.

RE: John, using your grip

Moog,
would you be interested in a .vb Journal file that does that? I can post one, although I think I got it off of this forum, so perhaps the author could post it (someone named Henry?)
