Breaking Toolbox from PDMWorks

Breaking Toolbox from PDMWorks

Breaking Toolbox from PDMWorks

(OP)
Hello,
I have a small (maybe a big one) dilemma and need some advice. Our company has a design library with many many parts, and most have a controlling Vendor Item Drawing (VID) associated with the SW part or assembly. The VID can be a SW drawing, pdf or a dwg document. Here's my problem. We're using PDMWorks Workgroup and the parts are loaded under the Toolbox file path, so there not being checked in to the vault. I need to know how to break the toolbox link and check in these VID parts and drawings because I cannot attach (drag and drop) a VID document to a toolbox/parts library part. I would like to do this without messing up the top level assemblies file paths or file references. Can this be done? See attachment

RE: Breaking Toolbox from PDMWorks

There is a utility in your install location named "sldsetdocprop.exe" that check or un-checks a flag to make a part a toolbox part or not.

Pick yes if you want it to be a toolbox part or no if you don't.

Flores,
I get what you're saying, but doesn't see to work. I get an error on one of the parts. I think it's because the part is already in the PDM vault, and won't allow mw to change it. See attached

RE: Breaking Toolbox from PDMWorks

The file will probably need to be set to writable (not read only) for the utility to change the property.

As an alternative, there is an option in the PDMW Vault Admin to allow check in of library parts.

I would bet that you have to take ownership of the part and save it to a local directory and change the state.  Afterwards check it back into the vault.

Guys,
Will I have trouble with the file paths in the assemblies?
