Extracting Faces From Faceted Sheet Body

Extracting Faces From Faceted Sheet Body

Extracting Faces From Faceted Sheet Body

(OP)
Is it possible to extract faces from a faceted body?

The faceted body is one big sheet body generated using metal formability software ( AutoForm ) and imported into UG NX3 as a mesh.  I've tried every dirty UG trick I could think of without any luck.  I even tried exporting this faceted sheet as an IGES file and re-importing it back into UG.

Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Extracting Faces From Faceted Sheet Body

The easy answer is No. There is nothing supported that will do this in NX. You may create other geometry of sorts based on your faceted model or STL file. Otherwise you can section that geometry to create curves within NX

RE: Extracting Faces From Faceted Sheet Body

In NX5 or later version, you may try to use Rapid Surfacing fucntion(In Shape Studio application,Insert->Surface->Rapid surface), it is new function ,it is useful to construct one surface quickly.

Thanks,
Michael
