(OP)
Quick question - I'm running SW 2008 Premium in an engineering consulting environment. I have a customer that has given me a .WRL file that I need to do some FEA on. Can I convert this to something that I can use???

Thanks - Dave

RE: .WRL file

Any idea what program created the file?  I'm afraid without that information you are USC.

RE: .WRL file

Go to File/Open/change file type to .wrl/browse to file.

RE: .WRL file

It's a VRML file.  You can import VRML files into SW as solid bodies, but it will be a faceted solid.  It will look like a cross between STL and IGES. In order to do an analysis you might have to clean up some round surfaces.

RE: .WRL file

Well, blow me down.  There it is.  My apologies!

RE: .WRL file

Depending on what you are looking for with your FEA, you may ask for a SolidWorks file from your customer.
