No green dot... Arrgghh!

No green dot... Arrgghh!

No green dot... Arrgghh!

(OP)
Can anyone please help me out - I`ve lost my green dots from my drawing evironment when I try to dimension up.  I can now only select the 2 lines separetely and not the intersection point between them, i.e. the green dot.

Has anyone encountered this or anyone know how to bring it back?  Or even what its called ?

Thanks in advance
StickmanRay

RE: No green dot... Arrgghh!

I have never seen this behavior before.
Are you sure you aren't within an active sketch?

Assuming you are in a view and not a sketch there are two ways to get apparent intersection.
The first method is to select the first line and then RMB select Intersection and then the second line that would form the intersection (a yellow dot will momentarily appear at the projected intersection). Pick the third line and place your dimension.
The second method is to place the dimension some convenient location and then click on the dimension and then the click and drag the green dot (this assumes you are not in a sketch) and track the intersection.  Method 2 doesn't always work - depending on the geometry (if I recall it only works for horizontal/vertical tracked intersections)

RE: No green dot... Arrgghh!

Are you trying to edit the dimensions or just measure distance, because I can only get the object snap dots in a sketch, once I'm out of sketch mode I can only select the edge not the actual points, try and measure in a sketch.

RE: No green dot... Arrgghh!

Software version and service pack status please.

Also, other system specs would be helpful.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your input!  Sorry about late reply, i have been on holiday.  Back to the hard slog again, eh!
I discovered my problem, my snaps were not set at end point for some strange reason.  Changing computers in the office and someone else had different snap settings for wheatever reason.  When I activated the end point snap, things were all better!
I appreciate the input guys, thanks!
