SP 4.0 Apparently Available

SP 4.0 Apparently Available

SP 4.0 Apparently Available

I just checked for updates and apparently SP4.0 is officially released.  Supper's waitin' so I can't download to verify now.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

Excellent.  Let us know how it goes once you install it.  Supposedly, this SP addresses the "phantom files" that randomly open up when trying to switch between documents.  I've been waiting for this one for a while now.  I told IT about it, but they won't get to it for a while.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

I have been using SP4.0 EV since it was available. Have not noticed the "phantom files" that randomly open up when trying to switch between documents. Must have been fixed.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

So you previously had that problem?  If so, how often?  I know one of our designers gets it quite often, which is a real PITA for him.  I get it on occasion, but I haven't been using SolidWorks all that much lately.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

Yes, I had the "phantom files" problem before updating to SP4.0 EV. That is why I would not use the SolidWorks Window tab. Still don't use it. Maybe that is why I am not having the "phantom files" problem. I will have to check, I am still on SP4.0 EV. Got to get my drawing checked into PDM and printed today.

I have been using the SP all morning (more like since 10:00 after the lengthy download to install) and have already benefitted from the fixes.  I am especially pleased to have the annoying issue resolved in using the Window to select an open file and getting something completely different (sometimes it is not even one of the open files!).

I just read through the fixed SPR's and am happy some of the other annoyances I have encountered have been fixed (dims should be flat to screen - only they are NOT), exporting DXF's of flat patterns come out as wrong scale (I didn't report that one since I couldn't reliably reproduce it, but I'm sure glad it is fixed), etc.

My early review is very positive on the SP.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

Those seem like fairly huge/annoying fixes not to have done before SP4.

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

I keep getting an error message (Error 1402) when installing DWGEditor, e-Drawings and SW Explorer. Has anyone else experienced this error, if so how did you resolve it.

Thanks,
Declan

RE: SP 4.0 Apparently Available

SP04 automatically installed for me today with no problems. It appears the incredibly annoying "Incorrect file opens when switching using the Window menu" bug has been fixed. The fixed SPR list for this service pack is quite long.

For some reason DWGEditor disappeared after installing SP4.0.   I tried re-installing DWGEditor form the install DVD, but it told me that a newer version was already installed.   I then went to Add/Remove programs but there was no un-install for that program alone; I would have to un-install all of SW.

I noticed all of the files except the .exe file were in the install location.  I simply went to a different computer and copied "DWGEditor.exe" and pasted it into the install location on my computer and it started right up with no problems.
