COSMOS FloWorks Meshing
COSMOS FloWorks Meshing
(OP)
Hi, I am working on an external flow with a relatively large computational domain, when i mesh with setting 3 the results are not as precise as I need, although when i mesh using setting 8 it takes more time then i would like to calculate the results. In my project there are only certain areas where i need very fine meshing.
So my question is; is there a way to apply different mesh sizes to different regions of the computational domain?
Thanks

RE: COSMOS FloWorks Meshing
a) Advanced Meshing : If you turn off Automatic Meshing in the Initial Mesh window, then you can apply tighter meshes to solids, partials and fluid interfaces individually, thereby increasing mesh resolution just around the model, while maintaining a relatively larger cell resolution everywhere else in the Computational Domain.
b) Control Planes : Once you turn off Automatic Meshing, you will be able to define what are called Control planes (basically extra planes in the global X,Y and Z directions). You can control the count and the relative density of cells between subsequent planes. Hence, you can relax the cell resolution from the extremeties of the computational domain, and tighten the resolution as you approach the areas of interest.
NOTE : Click on Show Basic Mesh while working here so that you can see the density variations between control planes.
Hope this helps!!
