Chamfer Taper on dia per inch of length
Chamfer Taper on dia per inch of length
(OP)
I have a drawing that dimensions the chamfer differently than I have ever seen. Instead of a length it gives a basic dimension of .536 taper on dia per inch of length. It also gives a diameter dimension .037 basic from the end of the part.
I have attached a pdf of the drawing to better show what I am asking.
All help is greatly appreaciated.
Regards,
Mike

It looks similar to something I've seen on old UK defence industry drawings.
KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...

The geometry makes sense, at least to the extent that I can draw the thing. With appropriate feature controls applied, the thing can be interpreted by ASME Y14.5M-1994.
Is there any chance you can make drafter inspect the parts when they come in? He needs to learn!

Thanks Weavedreamer for the illustration. I am still confused though on how you figured the length of the chamfer. Is there a formula for figuring the length off of the taper per inch.
Maybe if you could just explain how you came up with the numbers that would help me understand.
I really appreciate the help
Thanks

Set your points .536 apart, perpendicular at one end of the axis.
Connect the points to the other end of the axis.
Oops. Maybe I'm answering the wrong question. - Eventually it intersects the 0.063 diameter?
