problems with IGES import (NX5)

problems with IGES import (NX5)

problems with IGES import (NX5)

(OP)
I am having trouble importing an IGES part file from a connector vendor.  The part will not import cleanly into NX5. NX I-DEAS 5 has no trouble with it, however.  My workaround is to import it into I-DEAS, then create an xpk file that NX5 can open.  Obviously, this is not convenient.  This has happened to me several times.  Why does NX5 have trouble with IGES?

RE: problems with IGES import (NX5)

I would contact GTAC and have them get someone in the Translator group to look at the problem.

I contacted GTAC.  It's a bug, and won't be fixed until version 5.0.5.3.

RE: problems with IGES import (NX5)

I just installed NX 5.0.5.3 so it's real.  The schedule shows NX 5.0.5.3 being available for download by customer by the end of July, so it's not too far off.

RE: problems with IGES import (NX5)

I reported this issue to GTAC a couple of months ago and they created the PR.  For some reason, I can't find my original thread in this forum.  Anyway, if you have NX 3 available, try importing the IGES file into that version. It worked for my situation.
