400 HZ REACTANCE CURVES

400 HZ REACTANCE CURVES

400 HZ REACTANCE CURVES

(OP)
Good Day,
Does anybody know a good source for cable reactance curves for 400hz ac power?  My design has a 400 hz, 60 hp g-rater with a distribution panel with 20 and 30 amp branch circuits.

RE: 400 HZ REACTANCE CURVES

No, but if you know the reactance at 60 Hz, you can calculate the inductance and then calculate the 400 Hz reactance fairly closely.  Same with the shunt capacitance if you are looking for high accuracy.

But don't overlook the increased resistance due to skin effect.  You should be able to find a ac/dc ratio or curve as a function of frequency.  The resistance increase can be surprising.

Thanks 7anoter4 & dpc,
I'll look into it.

I found an old standard from the ICEA that lists dc resistance and derating factors for various cables.  The standard is P-43-457 1965! FYI

Thanks again
