ABAQUS Contact Element Problem

ABAQUS Contact Element Problem

ABAQUS Contact Element Problem

(OP)
Hello,

I just started ABAQUS last week so bear with.

Im trying to get two (2D) beams to come into contact and continuously deform together under a distributed load.

I can not get the beams to stop going through each other.  When I define a master/slave surface along with ridged constraints the code never complies and I get swapped with errors.

Does anyone have a link or a file of a tutorial for setting up a basic case of two beams colliding?

Thanks,

PJ

RE: ABAQUS Contact Element Problem

Even though the problem isn't really anything like what you described you might want to look at "1.1.4 Indentation of an elastomeric foam specimen with a hemispherical punch" in the example problems? When I was having a similar issue (not too long ago) this helped me out a lot.

Also, the verification manual has a whole section on contact problems.

Hope this helps.
Dan
