I want to pattern a table pattern that is related to a component, around a pattern of holes.

Can you group the table pattern and perform a reference pattern that follows the original 4 larger hole pattern?

No I says that the reference must be grouped with it and it is refereneced to a component.

How about rather than patterning the original 4 larger holes, make one large hole and pattern the 4 smaller around it, then group all 5 holes and create the 2x2 pattern.
